Until 1961, Eichelberger High School served surrounding township schools. Presented here are photos of those schools. We are continuing to explore these school and request any photos or documentation that is available.

The picture to the right is a octagonal "eight square" school house. It appeared on the back cover of the 1934 Commencement Program. We are not sure why is was included or if any of these types of structures were used in the Hanover, Pennsylvania area during the 19th century. The two links below provide additional information about these uniquely designed buildings.

Iron Ridge School

Located on Route 116 (6398 York Road) between Hanover and Spring Grove. The school now houses the Little School Animal Hospital Gilda M. Shearer, VMD.

Midway School on Filbert Street

The parsonage to the left was Midway Elementary School. It is located at the corner of Filbert and South Streets. This photograph was taken from the Filbert Street side.

The parsonage is attached to the Hanover Wesleyan Church, previously the Evangelical Christian Church and the Holiness Christian Church in 1957.

Parkville School

Parkville School was located at 777 Baltimore Street. The school became the Woodie Bowman's Restaurant before it was torn down.  The school was between Mr. Olivet Cemetery and Forest Park at the top of the hill. The Parkville School entrance is the same entrance at the light that goes to small stores including the Giant Grocery store. Bob Morris Furniture is currently located on the site. Zumbrum's School

The students in the Zumbrum School in the 1946-47 picture and the 1950-51 Glenville High School photo are the same students.

The 1950-51 photo pictures the last class to attend that high school. The school was closed at the end of the 1951 school year and students were dispersed to several area high schools. Some of the Glenville students attended Eichelberger High School in the fall of 1952 as sophomores.
