The Lightning Thief (The Percy Jackson Musical) We hope you can join us at Hanover High School for another exciting HHS production this spring! On April 17, 18, & 19, 2026 HHS students will be performing the high-energy rock adaptation of Rick Riordan’s bestselling book, The Lightning Thief, the first book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. This musical originally opened on Broadway in 2019, and is currently on national tour in the UK.

With music and lyrics by Rob Rokicki and book by Joe Tracz, the show tells the story of teenager Percy Jackson, who discovers he’s a demigod son of Poseidon. Percy is accused of stealing Zeus’s lightning bolt, so he and his friends Annabeth and Grover embark on an epic quest across the United States to clear Percy’s name and find the true thief, return the bolt to Zeus, and prevent a catastrophic war among the gods. The three friends encounter myths and monsters as they tell a story with lots of humor and heart, making this PG-rated show both appropriate and enjoyable for audiences of most ages.

Friday (April 17th) and Saturday (April 18th) shows start at 7pm. The Sunday matinee (April 19th) starts at 2pm. The HHS Drama Program cordially invites you to attend this spectacular LIVE theatrical event. Tickets will go on sale the week of March 9th in the HS office as well as online. Look for information on the district website prior to March 9th for online ticket purchase instructions. As always, we hope to see many HPSD friends and theatre patrons in the audience!
