Washington’s Kindergarten classes visited two local businesses in March to see how natural, human, and man-made resources work together to create a product. At the Utz factory the students marveled at the incredible process of turning potatoes into chips. They pressed their faces up against the glass to get a closer look at the extraordinary machines which cut, washed, dried, and seasoned ordinary potatoes to transform them into delicious chips. Afterwards, we visited the Sunrise Soap Company in York where we made our own Fizzies with all natural products! While the owner of the store made soap, she explained to us the science of soap making and which natural resources were used in the process. We learned a great deal and had a blast!
