Welcome to Hanover High School. I am Mrs. Rina Houck, the Principal of Hanover High School. On behalf of  Mr. Marc Abels, Assistant Principal, the faculty and staff, it is my honor to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year.  All of us at HHS are committed to excellence. Our goal is to provide an enriching, engaging and challenging curriculum that will prepare students for a successful future.

Hanover High school is proud to offer a rigorous curriculum that includes 15 Advanced Placement courses in Art, Computer Science, Foreign Languages, Language Arts, Mathematics, Music, Science, and Social Studies. In addition, we offer our students a large variety of elective courses that provide students with a well rounded curriculum that matches students’ strengths as well as their interests.

The development of the programs we offer at Hanover High School has been significant in the past few years. The 2014-15 school year was marked by the introduction of our Metals Lab, which includes machining and welding equipment that meets industry standards. Students with an interest in welding can join our NOCTI program and leave HHS as job-ready, certified welders. Students can also become NIMS certified in machining and enter the workforce career-ready.

Hanover High School’s Integrative Learning Center, or ILC, continues to be the hub of our high school. Equipped with two green screen video recording studios, three 3D printers, a laser engraver, vinyl cutter, 3D scanner, presentation studio, an XBox video game greenlight station, and a student-run Cafe, the ILC is a state-of-the-art learning center where students are encouraged to tinker, innovate, create and experiment to develop 21st century skills.

Hanover High School is proud to offer a STEAM Academy. The STEAM Academy is a new and innovative program for talented Hanover High School students with an interest in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. Students enrolled in STEAM Academy courses receive an individualized, Project-Based Learning experience supported by the intense use of technology as a learning tool. Four classrooms have been fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology to offer courses in Entertainment Technology, Robotics, Design & Engineering, Mechatronics, Biotechnology, and Music Technology.

Each HHS expands our Hybrid course offerings. Hybrid courses contain web-based learning activities that complement face-to-face instruction, and “seat time” is reduced, allowing more flexibility in how students choose to use their learning time. The instructors of the hybrid courses determine which activities can be completed online, and which activities students must complete face-to-face in the classroom. For example, students who are caught up and have completed all online assignments, and have maintained a minimum course grade of 80%, may be assigned to the classroom for only 3 - 4 days of the 6 day cycle. The other 2 -3 days, can be used to work on projects, get extra help from a teacher in a different class, etc. Students are free to take advantage of all of the opportunities HHS has to offer.

We strongly believe in the importance of teachers, parents and administrators collaborating and communicating frequently. We continually improve the quality of the tools we use to communicate with parents.  Families are encouraged to visit our website to retrieve pertinent information about our school, and log into Firefly to view your child’s academic records. Please follow us on Twitter using @HanoverHS to get up to date information regarding all the opportunities and events students are participating in at HHS.

We look forward to serving you and your children over the coming years. We welcome you to contact us and ask any questions you may have regarding our school and the programs we offer.  Please join us in making your child’s high school experience a meaningful and rewarding one.
