First Pennsylvania Rifle Battalion

Recruited by the frontier districts and armed with their own long rifles, these men joined the forces in New England, being the first from south of New England. Two companies marched to the attack on Quebec. Later, as the Second Pennsylvania Regiment, Continental Line, they fought throughout the war.
