The War of 1812

During the War of 1812, and after the city of Washington, D.C. was burned, one thousand men met in Hanover to prepare to march into Maryland to defend Baltimore. Among these troops were 144 men from Hanover. They took part in the battle at North Point, Maryland. When they returned, everyone in town lined Baltimore Street to welcome them home.
