Yvonne (Weaver) Bixler

Hanover, Pa.

Vonnie and her husband, Harold live in Hanover. She says, “Harold and I will celebrate our 25th anniversary in 2003. Harold was manager of the Hanover Republican Club for many years, and that’s where I met him. I think he knows more of my classmates than I do.”

She has two daughters from a previous marriage. They are Carolyn Markle who lives in Hanover, and Deanna Moyer who lives in Enola, Pa. She has three grandchildren. Stacy Markle graduated from Messiah College: Bryn Moyer is attending the University of Louisville; and Nicholas Moyer attended HACC. Vonnie worked as Office Manager for Pathmark Supermarket for 25 years until they closed, then Super K-Mart for 5 years until she retired at 62. She presently works part time for Joe Corbi’s Fundraising Office and for the Creative Coffee Gift Shop. Harold is retired.

Her hobbies are … “basket bingo … I collect Longaberger baskets … also I collect Emmett Kelly Miniatures.”

Her favorite teacher at EHS was Mr. Smith for biology, and she feels Mr. Diehl was the most effective teacher. “I wish I had paid more attention”, she said.

She has traveled to Florida, Hawaii, Canada, and Europe. Vonnie and Harold enjoy attending college and high school sports events, plays, and events their grandchildren are in.

Her message to her classmates is …

“I lived in New Jersey for 15 years. Living in Hanover is a great place to be. I do enjoy attending our class reunions, and I wish more people would come to see how much fun we have talking about those School Days.”
