Joan (Trone) Moreau
Aiken, South Carolina
Joan and her husband, George, live on a golf course in Aiken, South Carolina. In addition to living in Indiana, Pa. for 10 years, they have lived in Fairfield, Ct., San Diego, Ca., and Charlotte, N.C. They have three children and six grandchildren. They met at their siblings’ wedding in Indiana, PA. Joan says, “Yes, George’s sister married my brother. They have been married for 53 years and we have been married for 45 years in ’03.” Joan is an artisan and is semi retired. “I had my own ‘one woman show’ of art quilts in Charleston, SC in ’02, and one in New York City on Madison Ave. in ’03.” George is a civil engineer. He was VP of Engineering (construction) for Nielson, Inc., San Diego, CA, and is retired.
Her hobbies are quilting, designing jewelry, and gardening. She feels the education we got at EHS was about the same as today’s public high schools. Mrs. Edward Jones was her favorite teacher, and Mr. Diehl gets her vote as the most effective teacher. She and George have traveled extensively throughout the USA including Hawaii, and they have been to Central America and to Europe. They enjoy attending Broadway type musical performances, art and quilt exhibits, and events their children host.
Joan almost never longs for the good old days, but she did like the entertainment value of TV in those days “instead of so much sex and violence” of today’s programming. She appreciates our modern technology including cell phones, computers, and better medical procedures.
She is proud of …“Raising three children. Jennie is a working actress in Chicago, Mary Ann is an art therapist in Charlotte, NC, and Walter is Executive Director of Community Foundations in Austin, Texas.”
Joan’s message to her classmates is … “Live your best life, and never stop learning, no matter what your interests are.”
She has a BS in Business Education from Indiana University of PA and attended Masters classes at Bucknell University. George has a BS in Civil Engineering from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA.
