Daryl Mae (Toot) King

East Berlin, Pa.

Daryl, her husband, Bob, their cat and Belgian horse live in East Berlin. She met her husband when … “Our family moved from Hanover to the East Berlin area for about a year in 1952, and there at the East Berlin school, I met my future husband and the love of my life.”

They have four daughters, nineteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren!

Daryl worked … “At Everybody’s Publishing Co. as a secretary right out of high school, then at Doubleday as a tele-typist, then at home farming and raising turkeys for Round Hill, and more recently at the Brethren Home Community as a CSA, retiring in 2003.” Bob retired from Edgcomb Metals 1n 1998 after 45 years as a truck driver. At present he drives part time for H&H Milk Transport. Her hobbies are reading and gardening. She has done volunteer work at area missions, and she takes some of the elderly from her church on shopping trips and trips to visit their friends and family. She and Bob enjoy attending steam engine shows, events their children host, and events their grandchildren are in.

She sometimes thinks about the good old days when  … “Life was more laid-back … didn’t seem so rush, rush as now … felt safer in many ways … 9/11 is one major example.” Daryl does appreciate the advances in modern technology of today.

Daryl is proud of … “Rearing four beautiful, loving, and caring daughters who have given us four wonderful sons-in-law, and then came nineteen precious grandchildren and five great grandchildren.”

Her message to her classmates is …“Be thankful for each new day and, with God’s

help, be and do the very best you can. Cherish family and friends --- our most precious and priceless treasures.”
