Hilda (Parrill) Hockensmith

Hanover, Pa.

Hilda, her husband, Don, and their two dogs, Lexi (Yorkie), and Katie (Maltese), live in Hanover. On September 15, 2003 they celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.  They have three children. Their son, Randal, owns his own auto repair business. Their son, Ronald, works in construction, and their daughter, Susan, owns her own medical equipment service business. Susan served in the US Air Force for 11 years and where she specialized in biomedical equipment engineering. They also have two grandchildren and one great grandchild! Hilda is a housewife and she also worked in customer service. Don was a quality control specialist with P.H. Gladfelter. They are both retired. She does volunteer work “helping others less fortunate.”

Her hobbies are crafts, gardening, shopping, playing cards, and traveling. They have traveled extensively, “over 40 states nationwide”, including Hawaii, and they have been to Canada. They enjoy major league baseball games and NFL football games, live performances of major entertainers, Broadway type musicals, plays, flower shows, and county fairs.

Hilda sometimes thinks about the good old days when, “the cost of living was lower, life had a slower pace, and there was less crime.” She does appreciate our modern medical and technological advances.

She said …

“I am most proud of raising my children to be kind, compassionate, successful, and independently thinking human beings.”
