Edwin S. Nickey

Thorton, Pa.

Ed, his wife, Barbara, and their cat live in Thorton, Pa. He has two children and five grandchildren. His first wife, Barbara Crooks (Class of ’56) passed away, and he met Barbara Ruyak on a blind date at the EHS 25-year reunion. Ed is an accountant and he’s not yet retired. Barbara was a teacher and she is retired.

His hobbies are fishing, tennis, and travel. He does volunteer work for the Forty Niners Chorus, and Relay for Life.

Ed has traveled extensively throughout the continental USA and to Canada, Nova Scotia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.

He enjoys attending major league baseball and football games; college and high school sports events; “many live performances … you have kids, you go to tons of events”; local band concerts, and Broadway shows.

He sometimes thinks about the good old days and he liked the slower pace of life in the 50’s, and that there were little or no drug problems in those days. He does appreciate the ease of communications and other aspects of the modern technology of the 2000’s.

Ed is proud of …

“Raising two great kids with good values and a sense of responsibility.”

Ed served in the US Army. He has a BS from Lehigh University and he took additional courses at Muhlenberg. Barb has a BS from Millersville and a Masters from Lehigh University.
