Janet (Leese) Coppersmith

Largo, Florida

Jan and her husband, Bill, live in Largo, Florida. “I met Bill at good old Eichelberger High School in 1954. This led to a marriage a year later. We will celebrate our 48th anniversary in 2003.” They have two daughters, three grandchildren, and one great grandson! Janet was a secretary, Bill had his own wallcovering business, and they are both retired. Her hobbies are: “Reading, going to the beach, traveling, watching our 2002 Super Bowl Champions (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), and going to rock and country concerts.”

She sometimes thinks of the good old days when she liked, “Less crime, less stress, better family relationships for a lot of families, and knowing your neighbors (maybe it was the small town atmosphere).” Her comment on the 2000’s is, “I wouldn’t want to be without our modern appliances and computers, etc.”

Jan feels the education we got at EHS was better than today’s public high schools, and Miss Oyler was her favorite teacher.

She is proud of … “Raising two wonderful daughters.  Debbie and her husband own a wallcovering business, and Cindy and her husband own a spearfishing gun manufacturing business. They have given us three wonderful grandchildren who have spent a lot of time with us and continue to do so.”

Jan’s message for her classmates is …

“Where have all the years gone? Seems like yesterday that we were roaming the halls of EHS. I hope all of you have had a wonderful life. I know I have. We moved to Florida 30 years ago and, as much as I like Hanover, I would not move back. I don’t think I could tolerate the cold weather. Bill got cancer a few years ago. It was a wake-up call, and he retired early. He’s fine now. We have done a lot of traveling, and spent seven weeks this summer on a trip to Alaska (we drove the entire Alaska Highway --- a great experience). We have done wonderful things with our grandchildren --- took them to many 50’s type rock & roll shows and they loved it.”
