Helen (Jamison) McNair

Taneytown, Md.

Helen is a widow. She and her cat live in Taneytown, Maryland. She has two sons, one daughter, four grandsons, and two great grandsons! She worked as a machine operator for Lions Emblem Company and is “sort-of” retired. Her hobbies are sewing, reading and cooking. She is an active volunteer. Helen is Chaplin for the local volunteer fire company and Chaplin for the American Legion Auxiliary. She also does cooking for the UCC Church.

She feels that we got a better education at EHS than the young people get from today’s public high schools. Mrs. Sykes was her favorite teacher and Mr. Paul and Miss Menges got her votes for most effective teachers.  Helen enjoys attending high school sports events, live performances of major entertainers, local band concerts, and events her children host, and events her grandchildren are in.

She sometimes longs for the good old days and she misses, “my feeling of security” from those days. She very much appreciates the advances of medicine and surgery of our modern times.

Helen is proud of …

“Raising my three children and learning to live alone and be my own person.”

Her message to her classmates is …

“Take one day at a time, enjoy it to the fullest, so there will be no regrets tomorrow. God has been very good to me. I’m a diabetic, have heart problems, I’ve had several operations and I spent time at the Baltimore Burn Center because of a serious scald. But, all in all, for everything there is a reason. My children and my grandsons are everything to me. Hope to see you all in the near future, God willing.”
