Simpson M. Baublitz

Hanover, Pa.

Sim and his wife, Barbara, live in Hanover. They met on a blind date and were married in 1962. He was an auto painter for 45 years at Penn Auto Body and Paint, and is semi retired. Barbara provided at-home day care for 32 years, and she is retired. Sim and Barb do volunteer work for the Pennville and Hanover Fire Companies, and also for Pal Meals.

He feels that the education we got at EHS was better than today’s schools provide. His favorite teacher was Mr. Stoner, and Gladys Hamm got his vote for most effective teacher.

Sim has traveled to the western US, and he had three Mediterranean cruises when he was in the Navy which took him to many countries in that part of the world. He enjoys attending NASCAR races and major league baseball games.

He sometimes thinks about the good old days and he liked it when, “Life was more laid back and not so fast paced.” In the 2000’s, he likes snow blowers and being able to watch NASCAR races on Saturday or Sunday nights on TV.

Sim is proud of …

“I was married August 26, 1962 and still married to my one and only. Like it says, ‘for richer or poorer … in sickness or in health … stand by your spouse.’”

Sim served in the US Navy from November 7, 1954 until December 31, 1957. He served on the USS Stickell with a home port of Norfolk, Virginia.
