Editor’s note:

Marie passed away suddenly on Nov. 12, 2003, a few months after this was written.

Marie and her husband, Harold, live in the village of Stoverstown, Pa. (Stoverstown is near Spring Grove), “Harold and I met on a blind date, Sunday, May 19, 1957. Some friends were with him so I got paired up with Harold when they came to my house that Sunday evening. We got engaged one year later and married June 7, 1959. We have been happily married over 44 years.” They have two children and five grandchildren. She is a homemaker and previously a secretary at Seven Valleys Elementary Center (25 years) and is retired.  Harold is President of a family-owned appliance business where he’s been for 46 years. Her hobbies are: “bowling, camping, reading, gardening, learning to golf, traveling, biking, attending many sports and musical events and plays, and attending grandkids sports events, and  taking care of the grandkids.” She is a very active volunteer at her church, helping in the office with newsletters, serving on the altar guild committee and the evangelism committee. She also helps do an AARP newsletter.

She and Harold have traveled extensively throughout the US including Hawaii, and to Canada, Europe, and the Caribbean.

She misses the simpler life of the 50’s, and she liked the music better then than now … “I still like to listen to the ‘oldies.’” She is very grateful for the advances in modern medical technology.

Marie is proud of and thankful for … “Becoming the mother of two wonderful sons  and the grandmother of five wonderful grandkids.”

Her message to her classmates is … “We have learned to live each day as though it was our last. Harold and I have been very fortunate and blessed during our 44 years of marriage to have been in good health (for the most part) even though Harold has had some heart problems the past three years with three stents placed. We thank God for all the great specialists in the medical field! We have two wonderful sons. Kevin is a computer technician with Hewlett Packard, and Kyle is a partner with Ernst & Young. Our wonderful, active grandchildren are Lauren, Cory, Ryan, Andrea, and Justin. I wish ‘good health’ for all my classmates, and we hope to see many of you at our 50th Class Reunion in 2004!”
