This flag flew over the completion of
the Transcontinental Railroad at
Promontory Point on May 10, 1869. Two locomotives, the Juniper and
the 119, moved slowly to towards each other to the cheers of a large
crowd. A golden spike was driven into the last tie to mark the
completion of the project.
