Phyllis (Byers) Tasto

Hanover, Pa.

Phyllis, her husband, Richard, and their black Labrador live in Hanover. Phyllis was a sophomore at EHS when her future husband was a senior, but they really didn’t know each other in high school. They “met” in 1961 when Richard painted the office where Phyllis worked. She was a secretary in an insurance office for 46 years and is semi retired. He was self-employed in the painting and paper hanging business, and later in preventative maintenance at the Brethren Home, and he is now retired.

Her hobbies are gardening, baking, cooking and playing cards. In the past five years, Phyllis has attended: high school sports events, local band concerts, symphony orchestra performances, plays, county fairs and events her grandchildren were in.

She sometimes thinks about the good old days, and she liked the slower pace of life back then. She does appreciate the advances in medicine and the modern electronics of the 2000’s.

The thing Phyllis is proudest of is …

“Having raised two great sons.”

Her message to her classmates is …

“I wish you good health and happiness, and I‘m looking forward to seeing everyone again at the 2004 reunion celebrating 50 years since our graduation.”
