From Dutch Days to School Days

The 3rdGraders at Hanover Street Elementary School are off to a great start in their study of communities in Social Studies.  While learning about Hanover, they visited with Mr. Derf Maitland, proprietor of the Reader’s Café.  He shared his knowledge about communities and Hanover in general.  The students will be visiting him at his place of business during their Hanover Historical Walk.

In addition to his visit, Mr. And Mrs. Edward Fox visited with their 1951 Ford Truck that was displayed at the Dutch Days Classic Vehicles Event this past July.  Mr. Fox’s fabulous truck was featured in the Gettysburg Times.  The students in Miss Evans’s class enjoyed the thrill of sitting in the driver’s seat.  The boys and girls learned about old cars and trucks, Hanover’s Dutch Day’s festivities, and about living in the Hanover Area for over 70 years.
