Students at Clearview Elementary and Hanover Street Elementary are preparing for a nationwide effort to “Read the Most Coast to Coast” on Friday, February 28. They are among hundreds of thousands of students who will join in this 3rd annual reading challenge.
Read the Most Coast to Coast encourages students to read more and take part in a one-day effort to beat the record for the number of Accelerated Reader Quizzes taken in one day. Last school year, students set a new one-day record of 4,409,622 quizzes.
At Clearview Elementary, as many as 80 students will take part in this shared effort to
top a national reading record. To prepare for this fun day, Clearview students will participate in a Book Fair and Science Night on Thursday, Feb. 27th. Students will be encouraged to get new books to read and teachers will be reading Science themed stories! Also, students will be bringing in their favorite stuffed friend to read with on Friday. Classrooms are also setting individual and class reading goals.
At Hanover Street Elementary, all students will take part in this shared effort to top a national reading record. Students and staff will be wearing ARty green. One hundred percent of our students will be taking at least one ARty test on Friday. Since initiating our R.E.D. reading program, students have interacted with many exciting books and stories. Fourth grade students will be helping Kindergartners log in on the computers and read quiz questions. Students and families are invited to participate in a Science and Reading Night on Wednesday, February 26th.
All Hanover Public School District students who participate will receive a Certificate of National Participation.
